Woodcock Park B.C. Challenge Shield Competition ‑ Rules 1. The competition shall be played on the basis of Home and Away matches of three Rinks. Scoring shall be one point for each winning rink and two points for the match winner giving a total of five points as a match maximum. Points to be shared for drawn rinks and / or games. 2. Participating clubs arrange their own fixtures and are free to determine the nature of their Club representation without placing any obligation on the opposing club (i.e. mixed teams permissible) 3. The Home team is responsible for returning result forms within one week of the match. Failure could result in the award of the maximum points for that game to the Away team. 4. The winner of the competition will be decided upon total points scored. In the event of a draw on total points the Club winning most games shall determine the result. If a draw still exists shot difference shall determine the result. 5. The winning club shall be responsible for arranging and defraying the cost of engraving the Trophy which shall be returned to Woodcock Park B.C. by 31st August for subsequent reaward. Arrangements for presentation shall be made between W.P.B.C. and the winning club. Any club failing to play a match for any reason, other than the responsible person of the Home club banning play, shall forfeit the match points. If a match is abandoned by mutual consent after commencement the score at that time shall be taken as the result provided that eleven ends have been completed. In the event of unilateral abandonment of a match in progress, all points shall be awarded to the opponents. In the event of a green being unplayable or by mutual consent becoming unplayable before eleven ends have been completed the fixture should be rearranged, but if that is impossible, or it is mutually agreed preferable the points shall be equally shared between the Clubs involved. 6. In the event of either team being short of players the opposing Captains may agree one of the following courses of action before play begins. Concede the point for the rink on which a team is short, and play the match on the basis of two rinks Allow a guest player to complete the short rink so that results stand on all three rinks. Play a Triple against a Four on one rink and make the one‑fourth deduction of shots scored as provided by Law 59(b) of the Laws of the Game. If no agreement is reached option three shall apply. 7. No team may contest any match more than one player short. In such circumstances the points must be conceded unless a new date for the game can be mutually agreed. In such an event the W.P.B.C. Results Secretary must be advised of the re‑fixturing. 8. Any Club failing to fulfil two or more fixtures for reasons other than the state of the greens shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the competition for the following season. 9. Any dispute should be referred to the W.P.B.C. Results Secretary for decision. Such judgement shall be final. |
